Yorkshire will host a key warm-up game for England Netball ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Australia.
The match will be organised by Yorkshire Jets and take place at Huddersfield University on Saturday 11 July – a month before the tournament in Sydney. England Head Coach Tracey Neville’s squad will take on an England Select for the game, which will begin at 2pm. Thunder have two players in the England long squad for the World Cup – Sara Bayman and Helen Housby will find out at the end of June if they will travel to Sydney. |
Tickets for the game will go on sale shortly.
Tracey Neville, England Head Coach, said: “The England on the road fixtures will provide an essential opportunity for the squad to experience the type of conditions they will be facing at the World Cup in Australia. By taking the team across the country for a week of intense match play, the players can continue to fine tune and sharpen so that when we reach Sydney, we will be in peak condition and fully prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. Having coached in the Netball Superleague, I know just how passionate the fans in Yorkshire are. We are delighted to take a World Cup warm-up fixture to the region and can’t wait to give our supporters a glimpse of what they can expect from us in August.”
Jane Moulson, Yorkshire Jets Franchise Director, added: “We are delighted to be able to welcome England to Yorkshire giving fans here the opportunity to see Tracey Neville’s team in action ahead of the World Cup. It will be an exciting Saturday afternoon of netball in Huddersfield and I know tickets will be in high demand.”
