Manchester Thunder play Hertfordshire Mavericks on Saturday in their quest to secure a spot in the
Superleague’s Final Four. Knowing they were one win away from the play-offs, Thunder missed the chance to qualify after losing to Wasps at the Thunderdome last weekend. They are now determined to book their place at the very next opportunity, against Mavericks in the south east. The Black and Yellows had come off a disrupted week of training for the Wasps game, with two of their key players away at England U21 training camps. But coach Karen Greig is confident a full week of training with her whole squad will make a huge difference for the away trip this weekend. |
She said: “That game against Wasps is gone. After it I was just looking forward to training with my whole squad.
“Mavericks are going to pose a threat to us on Saturday, and we know that they’re strong in the shooting end and in defence. “We’ve had to do a lot of homework this week to look at how we’re going to break them down and hopefully we can put out a good, strong performance and qualify for the top four.” Mavericks v Thunder, FCP 6pm |
