The 2018 Mike Greenwood Trophy competition is almost upon us.
Three other Superleague teams – Team Bath, BenecosMavericks and Team Northumbria – will join Thunder in Oldham on April 14.
Traditionally a pre-season tournament, the event, now in its sixth year, has switched to spring this season to act as a warm-up for the restart of the Superleague, following the five-week Commonwealth Games break.
Reigning MGT champions Wasps won’t be taking part, so it’s a chance for Thunder to regain the title they haven’t won since 2014.
They will face tough competition from 2015 winners Team Bath, with benecosMavericks and Team Northumbria also expected to be up for the challenge.
With a number of players absent on the Gold Coast it is the perfect opportunity for coaches to rotate their squad and experiment with player combinations before the return of the Superleague next week.
The first of the six round-robin matches gets under way at 1pm, with the final taking place at 6pm.
Doors at Oldham Leisure Centre open at 12:30pm.
