After an intense period of trials, we are delighted to announce our Performance Pathway squads for the 2018/2019 season.
Performance Pathway Head Coach Laura Malcolm said:
“We’ve finally finished our extremely competitive trials, whittling down 600 players to 150 and as you can imagine it hasn’t been easy. This is my first time being involved in the process and I’m extremely impressed with the standard in the region. In addition, I’m delighted to see so many young players hungry to become a part Manchester Thunder.
“Selectors for all of our trials are made up of Thunder coaches, regional representatives and county representatives. Umpires included a mixture of volunteers, trainees and assessors. The trials were organised and run by the Thunder team managers, pathway coaches and volunteers. Although it’s at the forefront, it’s fair to say that our trials are bigger than just selecting players, they are an opportunity to support and develop netball across region.
“This season Manchester Thunder aim to create solid and transparent pathway that produces a conveyor belt of quality players from year 7 up. We are a competitive franchise but we always endeavour to develop our programmes along with every player and every coach. With that in mind this season we have introduced the Thunder Bee’s Programme to run alongside our Thunder Youth. This will increase the opportunities for our younger age groups as well as creating new coaching opportunities for the region.
“The trialling process has been tough for all involved, but I hope everyone has taken something away from the experience. I can’t thank all of the coaches, managers, selectors, umpires and volunteers enough for making trials run smoothly and allowing us put together seven very exciting squads for our 2018/19 season.
“Now we can finally get to work!”
