ParaNetball
Manchester Thunder and Nichols plc have formed a partnership overseeing our ParaNetball Programme, building on the programme which Dominoes Netball Club established in 2021.
It is a very exciting time for everyone involved, and we would love for you to come along and be part of the journey with us!
This unique inclusive netball opportunity will be delivered by qualified coaches holding DBS certification, all with a passion for working with people in the SEND community who live with a disability.
Our ParaNetball sessions will initially be for ages 11 – 25 years old, and each session will be free due to funding through our partnership with Nichols plc.
If you are over 25 and would be interested in future opportunities for ParaNetball then please do get in touch directly to see what options may be available in the future.
Our sessions run on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from 10-11am. The sessions take place at Wright Robinson in Gorton (1st Saturday each month) and Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre in Wythenshawe (3rd Saturday each month). Both venues and facilities are fully accessible for people with disabilities.
Our coach Rebekah is deaf herself and is able to offer additional support anyone who is deaf or has a hearing impairment during the sessions.
We follow a set structure within the session to allow the participants familiarity and routine; starting with a warm up, focus on a variety of netball skills and then into match play. All participant’s needs are supported to allow everyone to participate to their full potential, whilst most importantly having fun playing netball.
Siblings are able to join in should they wish to support their brother/sister – please do book them on also.
We look forward to seeing you at our sessions!
We really focus on the ABILITY within DisABILITY, and ensure NetbALL really is for ALL

Meet Our Head of ParaNetball
Hello I’m Katie Thompson (Head of ParaNetball at Manchester Thunder.)
Having established the first ParaNetball Club in the North West with Dominoes Netball Club in November 2021, I was thrilled to be approached by Manchester Thunder to discuss ParaNetball. We discussed not only Manchester Thunders ambitions but those of myself too: to provide opportunities for as many people living with disabilities to access Netball – a game so many of us love being part of, as a player, coach, official, volunteer or fan.Â
Being able to provide opportunities to the deaf and disabled communities is something I’m really passionate about. Having been involved professionally in the Sports Development sector for 10 years now, there clearly is a huge gap within Disability Sport that needs addressing, so hopefully ParaNetball can bring to help tackle this issue.Â
The sessions which myself and my other fabulous volunteer coaches have been running for the last 12 months have really grown and developed. It really is fantastic knowing the opportunities and excitement Netball is bringing to many young peoples lives – who often don’t have the opportunity to take part.Â
The Partnership between Manchester Thunder and Nichols plc will allow ParaNetball to be taken to new audiences across the North West and I’m so excited to be on board!
Feel free to contact me should you have any questions ahead of attending one of our sessions: [email protected]
