With Manchester Thunder fans still buzzing about the announcement of Goal Shooter Lenize Potgieter from Australian SSN side Adelaide Thunderbirds, Thunder are excited to announce another member of their attacking circle with the re-signing of youngster Lois Pearson.
Twenty-two-year-old Pearson has been a part of the Manchester Thunder pathway for the past ten years, and since 2012 has made her way through all of the age groups. In 2021, under head coach Karen Greig and newly appointed Performance Operations Director Tracey Neville, Pearson stepped up from a training partner to cement her place as a members of Thunder’s first team squad. In her first Superleague season, she made 21 appearances and scored 26 goals, with a goal conversion percentage of 78.79%.
In 2022, Pearson continued to be a consistent presence in the squad and played in all 22 games of Thunder’s undefeated season, scoring 33 goals and helping them to lift the 2022 Superleague trophy. Her achievements on court have also been recognised by England Netball, who have named her in the Future Roses programme for the first time for the 2022-23 season.
Lois Pearson said, “I loved playing for Thunder last season, and lifting the trophy at the end of the season was amazing. I can’t wait to be back for 2023, and I’m looking forward to being back at training, welcoming some new team members and defending our title.”
Karen Greig, Head Coach and Director of Netball for Manchester Thunder, said, “What an exceptional season Lois had last year. She really thrived with the experience around her and cemented her role in the squad at both Wing Attack and Goal Attack. She is an exciting young athlete with still so much more to learn and is a real sponge with a great attitude. I am excited to see how much more we can pull from her this season.”
