Amy Carter has been a member of Manchester Thunder since 2017 and made her debut in the Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) in 2018, and was in the squad when Thunder won the Superleague title for the third time in their history in 2019.
Being able to play in Centre and Wing Defence positions, Carter played in twenty games in the 2021 season, cementing her place as an integral member of the Manchester Thunder mid-court squad.
After re-signing for Thunder for the 2022 season, Carter suffered an ACL injury while in pre-season club training and underwent surgery in early October 2021, ruling her out of the upcoming season.
When her injury was announced, Amy Carter said, “I’m obviously disappointed to be out for the season but I’ll still be involved and strongly supporting Thunder throughout the season. I’m entering the final year of my medical degree, so I’ll have plenty to focus on before I’m back playing netball.”
Twenty-three-year-old Carter is now on the road to a full recovery, and whilst she was in rehab for her injury throughout the 2022 season, she completed her medical degree at the University of Manchester. Through her dedication to get back to full fitness over the past year, Carter has been re-signed for Manchester Thunder for the 2023 season.

After a devastating season ending injury in pre-season last year plus a setback in her recovery, she is smashing her return to play. Amy is a young unassuming athlete who has proven even at her young age that she is a dominating centre court player with a very bright future. I’m so proud of how she has attacked these past twelve months and I can’t wait to have her back on court again.”
Amy Carter said, “I ruptured my ACL last year and I’ve been rehabbing ever since. I’m super excited to get back on court and playing with the rest of the Thunder team and get another win under the belt.”
Carter is also a prominent figure at youth level for England netball and has been named in a number of U19 and U21 squads, including Europe Netball competitions. Carter has featured in several England A games against nations at the top of the world rankings before making her senior debut at the Vitality Netball Nations Cup in 2020. She has also been selected for the Vitality Roses programme for the 2022-23 season.
