Manchester Thunder will welcome Superleague and national teams to the Thunderdome for the annual Mike Greenwood Trophy tournament.
Thunder will compete against Celtic Dragons and Scotland with Superleague’s Yorkshire Jets, Team Northumbria and Loughborough Lightning also taking part in the event on Saturday, November 29. The tournament – in its third year – was named in honour of Black and Yellows former coach Mike Greenwood, who passed away in 2011. |
Celtic Dragons and Scotland will be looking to get some court time following mixed performances at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The tournament also plays a vital part in their pre-season preparations for the the Superleague teams, ahead of the first round of fixtures in January.
Thunder have triumphed in the previous two contests, which were also held at the Thunderdome in Gorton.
Manchester Thunder managing director, Debbie Hallas, said: “It is always a great tournament with some of the best players in Superleague taking part – a full day of quality netball. To have players who play on an international level coming to Manchester is also great for the sport and we hope Thunder fans and netball fans turn up to support the teams. We hope this tournament will further honour the great legacy Mike left behind.”
