Every year pre-season feels like the longest ever, but then you hit the last week of the season and it doesn’t feel long enough! We can hardly believe that it all starts again tomorrow!
There’s been a lot of movement in the off season, ourselves included and hopefully it will make for a very exciting season with all teams challenging for those top 4 spots. Our whole team feels very positive going into the first game and I’m sure that’s got a lot to do with Dan coming in with his fresh ideas and Australian mentality, that has definitely been transferred to us! I’m sure I speak for the whole team when I say that training has been hard work but also a lot of fun, with new drills and some mixed up terminology!
The new players have fitted right in and have brought with them their own styles and ideas, particularly Liana and Mally. Liana trained with us a few seasons ago before she headed off to the ANZ and it’s been fantastic to have her back and permanently. She’s incredibly experienced and is a great help to all the players, especially our mid courters. Mally brings a completely different style for our defence and I’m excited to see that close up on the court on Saturday. Nat slotted straight in and has definitely provided a few laughs with her insight into life! We’ve been lucky enough to keep the core of the squad over the last few seasons and it’s really exciting to see some of our long standing NPL players stepping up in to this squad to challenge some of our older players. Amy and Beccy are definitely ones to keep an eye on this season and I’m sure we’ll see great things!
We’re all incredibly excited to be heading back to the Manchester Arena as well this season to take on Yorkshire Jets. Hopefully we can go one better this year and come away with a win. We’re also hoping to make this the biggest crowd for a single domestic game too! We want to show you all what the north can do and I can’t think of a better game to do it in than a local rivalry and the ‘War of the Roses’. Our games against Jets in the last few years have been extremely close and exciting and we’re hoping for more of the same! So if you’ve not got tickets for that, why not?

As for Super Saturday, the kit is looking amazing (thanks Gilbert), the trainers are broken in (thanks Asics) and the team is ready to go! Tomorrow is all about the performance and we’re hoping to implement our structures and game plans, and of course, impress Dan! Not to mention, entertaining you with some fast and free flowing netball!
If you can’t make it to Birmingham tomorrow, you can catch all the action LIVE on Sky Sports from 1.30pm – we’ll be on court at 6pm, so make sure your seat is saved in front of the TV!
