England thrashed Wales 70-25 to kick-off their home winter international series in style.
The red and whites, who were playing Wales after original opponents Malawi pulled out due to Visa issues, dominated from the first centre pass. The Queens will play England in the remaining two Tests on Wednesday at London’s Copperbox and Worcester Arena on Saturday. |
The Liverpool Echo Arena was treated to a defensive masterclass from England, led by Geva Mentor, who won her 100 international cap.
The match also marked the return of shooter and captain Pamela Cookey, who missed this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow due to a serious Achilles injury.
England flashed into a four-goal lead within two minutes of the whistle and didn’t look back.
