Welcome to the Thunderdome!!
Our second televised game of the season sees us take on the Welsh side of Celtic Dragons. The aim this year for the side and new appointed coach Trisha seems to be the World Championships out in Sydney this summer. Yet to win a game this season, I do feel that the loss of key players Timmy Cato to Yorkshire jets and Kyra Jones to Team Bath has heavily affected their side and their style of players, which will take some adjusting to. I am however, a big fan of the youngsters that are being exposed and getting some valuable learning experience out on court. |
The last few weeks have been tough and have seen some mixed performances from the MT side. Learning experiences for the players over the last few weeks have demonstrated that the championship quarter, the ability to extend the score-line in one quarter by a considerable deficit, and retain that lead has played dividends in gaining us points. Our last game against Yorkshire jets was the first time we had started badly, and we ended up chasing the game to the very end. The team under-performed by their own standards and ‘savvy’ shooting and consistent circle defence saw us scrape a win and ensured we left with the valuable points.
I welcome our NPL players and coaches to the court tonight. This will be a tough game for our youngsters having been defeated by this side in November in the pre-season tournament. They demonstrated very clinical passing, which made winning ball off this side very difficult so everyone will have to be on task in this game.
Our last two home games before we start out on the away leg of our season, keep the support coming and vocal. #Letsgothunder
