The reigning champions have secured the city’s 21,000-capacity venue to play their home last-four tie.
Their opponent for the April 18 match is yet to be confirmed.
A curtain raiser netball match will take place at 4.30pm prior to the main event, with the first centre pass at 6.10pm, which will be screened live on Sky Sports. It is a huge coup for the Black and Yellows and English netball as it follows the success of Netball London Live, which saw just over 6,000 netball fans descend on the Copperbox in Olympic Park to watch Surrey Storm beat Hertfordshire Mavericks.
Debbie Hallas, Manchester Thunder director, said: “This is huge for Manchester Thunder and women’s sport, not just in the city but the whole country.
“We want it to be as big if not bigger than Netball London Live and it is the perfect opportunity to get people interested in our sport.
“We have been working hard with Manchester City Council and the Arena to make sure this event is a success.
“We would like to thank them for helping us host what we hope will be a special sporting event.”
It has been a rollercoaster week for Thunder, with the announcement that head coach Tracey Neville will take leave from the franchise at the end of the season to lead England at the World Cup in Sydney.
