Netball Europe, QTV Sports, and StreamUK are pleased to announce that all 21 matches will be livestreamed.
The Championships, which take place at the Antrim Forum, Belfast, Northern Ireland, between May 14 and 17, features England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in addition to world number six South Africa and Trinidad & Tobago, ranked ninth in the world.
In addition to the main competition between the high performance nations, a separate development section, featuring Malta, Switzerland, and Ireland will allow netball fans to see live coverage for the first time of the international game’s developing teams.
UK-based producer QTV Sports, which creates digital content for over a dozen international federations and sports governing bodies, will produce the live HD coverage.
StreamUK, leading technology partner, will provide the platform and support to deliver a smooth viewing experience for fans. They will also provide the expertise to push video clips to social networks and advertise the games in real time.
Netball fans can access the live coverage by purchasing a Day Pass (£9.95) or a Tournament Pass (£19.95). OnDemand access will be priced at £9.95 and all matches will be available for catch-up until the end of July.
Netball Europe Chairman Lyn Carpenter is excited by the coverage: “Netball Europe is delighted to have signed this partnership to deliver live coverage of the Open Championships. This is one of the biggest netball competitions in the world and the region is excited to welcome South Africa and Trinidad and Tobago to compete against Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England. We’re equally excited to enable our developing nations – Malta, Switzerland and Ireland – to showcase their performances to their fellow netballers, spectators, volunteers and – importantly – government agencies and potential sponsors. Netball has made huge strides as a globally-recognised sport but there is much to do to support – and improve opportunities to play in – those member countries where netball is not a core curriculum sport in schools, or where there is limited government support or facilities.”
Jack McGill, CEO of QTV Sports added: “This partnership is the first step for us in developing a digital presence for international netball and we look forward to delivering high quality content for this and future netball events with our partners StreamUK.”
Duncan Burbidge, CEO for StreamUK, sees this as an opportunity for netball to grow: “Netball has a core fan base that has not been able to access quality content remotely.  We’re really excited to be working with QTV Sports to satisfy that need.”
Each of the first three days of competition features six matches with three remaining matches played on the final day. It is the last major competition before the INF World Netball Cup in August.
